Prior to using HandUp, I've exhausted every other measure. I am turning to HandUp because through the program I hope to be more self sufficient and live a better life for myself.
I'm from Detroit Michigan. I was born and raised here as well. I'm in the process of starting a new job in health care that's going to open up financial stability and freedom for myself. I know only of my family due to the time that I spent as an orphan until the age of 18. I'm currently building relationships as we speak. In my spare time, I volunteer at different organizations, such as Gleaners Foodbank. The covenant house where I was formally a resident. I'm trying to better my life and its hard having little to no help. There are programs that can help me, but that have other families that they help and prioritize as well.
This year has been very difficult for me, yet I've been pushing through and trying to maintain. I recently moved from a shelter. I was pregnant with twins who were high risk so I couldn't work as much as I used to. I've always strived for independence but things have happened that were outside of my control. I have birth to my first two kids James and Samuel February 18th, 2018 but they passed away. I still gave birth to them. I was 30 weeks pregnant. I finally went back to work and started back school giving myself little to no time to heal or grieve. I eventually caused myself to hemorrhage and had to sit back out of work which put my behind in my car payments. I was then after involved in an abusive relationships which as hindered me as well. I'm in the process of trying to find a new place to start over.
My goals consist of me furthering my education, becoming a nurse and using my big heart, finishing school with my associates of science degree, enroll in a wonderful nursing program. I've acquire my CNA license, phlebotomy license, and currently involved in EKG classes. I plan to get there by staying focused on my goal. Having the perseverance to push through despite the hardships that come my way.
I am happiest when others smile. I love to brighten others peoples days despite what I endure. I still reach out and help the community because it brings me joy internally. My proudest moment is when I received my GED, and my nursing certificates. My wildest dream is going to the Philippines to feed the hunger and homeless with a trip to Arizona later.
I'm raising money for 1000 so I can become an entrepreneur and start a transportation company.
I'm raising money for a bed, a couch and some household items so I can have a fresh start with my son after losing my furniture and ending my homelessness.
I'm raising money for some start up funds so I can get my awareness t-shirt company started.
