I get disability every month and that's my only income so I don't have money left over for extra things. I could take the bus, but I like being outside, taking pictures of nature, and my bike is my favorite way to take me where I want to go. The tires and rims I have on my bike now are wearing out so I can't really ride it. The size of the tires should be 26 x 1.95. I also need a headlight that works, especially at night.
I grew up in Detroit. I've worked in the past as a landscaper and press operator. I've always enjoyed jobs where I get to work with my hands. I suffer from Bipolar disorder and I go through periods of depression. This makes it extremely difficult to keep a job. I have never fully recovered from the child abuse inflicted on me as a child. I found myself in and out of prison as a young adult and I finally found SOS. They were able to get me into housing and I was able to get my mental health needs met. Having a place of my own has made all the difference.
Now that I have housing. I can focus on my mental health and changing my overall attitude. I want to enjoy my life more and part of that is creating a positive outlook.
I like to ride my bicycle around the neighborhood! I really enjoy spending time outdoors and following the bike paths. Once I get my wheels and headlight replaced, it'll be safe for me to ride my bike again. It makes me feel good and I've really missed being able to explore the area where I live.
I'm raising money for Move in Cost so I can Secure Housing.
I'm raising money for a bed for my daughter so I can give her a safe place to sleep.
I'm raising money for basic needs.
