I used to use MUNI for transportation. About 6 months ago, I was was the victim of a hate crime against Asian Americans. I was riding MUNI when a man kicked my bag off the bus. I got off the bus to get my bag and the man punched me and attacked me. I had to put up my fists to defend myself.
Because of the hate crimes against Asian Americans on MUNI I am now taking paratransit so that I can stay safe. I have already had a stroke and spend most of my time taking care of my health. I am fundraising for a years worth of paratransit membership so that I can stay safe from hate crimes and attacks and live a healthy, safe life!
I am originally from Saigon in South Vietnam. I've been living in San Francisco on and off for about 35 years. I stay busy with picking up food at different locations and going to doctor's appointments.
I went to City College and worked until 2000 when I had to quit to take care of my parents. I had a stroke in 2009 and wasn't able to work for a time. I lost my home and everything. I'm now back housed and working hard to maintain my health and housing.
I want to keep my healthy life. I don't want the government to spend too much money on my hospital bills! I go around the city getting healthy meals at different meal sites and staying active.
I don't drink or use any drugs. I'm happiest eating a good warm cooked meal. I'm interested in reading the news- I like to stay up to date on current events and reading the health section. I spend most of my time reading and cleaning and like to cook. I steam vegetables and healthy food- it's a great feeling.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can take my grandkids around to places they haven't been before in California and be a fun grandma.
