I really need a hand up right now. Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated.
I've lived in San Francisco since 1988. I came up from Vista, California. While living in Vista, I was working on construction of a home for a man who built sets for Disney. I was living in the unfinished home while I worked on it. I then hitchhiked to San Francisco to look for work after the house was finished. Once in San Francisco, I registered for temporary agencies and got some work. The income was just enough to pay for hotel bills and food. I eventually got on general assistance. In 2000, I got on SSI after being hit in the head with a baseball bat.
The incident with the baseball bat resulted in memory loss. Someone came up behind me on a Muni bus and dislocated my jaw. I have a dual diagnosis of PTSD and bipolar disorder. I'm unable to work and I don't receive enough money to afford a decent place to live.
I eventually would like to go back to school.
Helping other people be happy helps me be happy. I like to tell jokes, especially if I'm the brunt of the jokes.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can afford food for the holiday season while I focus on my schooling.
