I'm raising money for basic needs so I can make home cooked meals for myself and those in need**.

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

When I was homeless I use to stay at the Women's Drop-in Center. They do not receive food everyday, sometimes they get food around 2-3 times a week. Now that I have received housing, I am going to City College and I love to cook. I like to donate a home cooked meal to the drop-in center on a weekly basis. That is why I would like to request help so I can use gift cards to off-set some of the funds to cook for them on a weekly basis. My funds are still very limited so getting support with food will allow me to cook for both myself and those in need.

** NOTE TO DONORS: We value your donations, and respect your intention to support people in need with their specific fundraising goals. On occasion, the immediate needs or an emergency may arise, and a Participant might require support in another way for safety, health, housing, or employment. As such, your donation may be used for an immediate basic need not mentioned in the above goal, such as groceries, health costs, or housing support. Any changes will always be approved in advance by PHC Staff. We will provide up to date information on how these funds are being used through an update on HandUp. By making a donation to this campaign, you are confirming your approval of this potential change. If you have any questions, or do not wish that your donation be used for any alternative goals, please contact PHC staff directly.

We greatly appreciate your support to our Participants!

About me.

I moved back to California after 30 years away. I moved away when my husband passed away. I am coming back to the most beautiful city in the world, I believe. I feel a need to give back because so much have been given to me, not only monetarily but spiritually as well. Everyday is a good day but there is always somebody that needs some one every day. I would like to be one of those people that can give back every day, if possible.

My backstory.

I recently received housing with help from the Season's of Sharing organization and it really helped me financially to move in to a nice apartment and I feel so blessed but yet I feel the need to give back to those who have helped me along the way.

My goals, moving forward.

I am enrolled in Fall semester City College and I volunteer at the Safe Passage Street Corner to help children feel safe crossing the street on their way to school in the Tenderloin.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I like to see every one else happy! I go around everyday to see who I can make smile or make laugh if someone is having a bad day :)
