I have been in my own place for several months now and I've been working on some goals. I'm trying to make a better life for myself. My income is not quite enough to cover my monthly expenses, and I'm behind on paying my landlord for my utilities. Unfortunately I'm at risk of losing my housing. There's no way I can come up with enough money on my own, but I did pay my landlord something today and I'm doing everything I can to come up with more.
I have struggled for a long time due to my disability and family problems. I had nowhere else to go and ended up in the shelter. But now I have my own place. However, I really need help paying my landlord for my utilities so he doesn't evict me. In the past I've worked in food service. It has been hard to get a job that I can be successful at but I'm trying.
I found myself in the shelter because I had nowhere else to go. The people I thought I could count on were not there when I needed them, but I'm finding my own way now.
I'm hoping to make it through the pandemic, get a better paying job and be reunited with my son.
The most important things to me are not being homeless and seeing my son whenever I can.
I'm raising money for bicycle wheels and a bicycle headlight so I can get around Pontiac.
