I was born in Detroit, Michigan and educated in Detroit Public Schools. After graduation from high school, I entered the military and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. I was honorably discharged in 1974. After discharge I entered college to study electrical engineer when my health took a turn for the worse.
While serving in Vietnam, I was exposed to chemicals that had a lasting impact on my health. I have severe neuropathy which and I am unable to stand for long periods time and require visits from health care providers. My mobility is severely limited. This caused me to be unable to work and I was evicted from my home and became homeless.
I am currently trying to continue my medical treatment. I would like to return to school to continue my studies for electrical engineering; I have only one year to complete but my health challenges are sometimes overwhelming..
I am a proud grandfather of more five grandchildren. My wildest is overcome my health challenges so that I can take care of wife, kids and grandkids. I would also like to complete college. My van was my only means of transportation, which was driven my wife. Without this van, I am unable to get to my medical appointments which has severely impacted my quality of life.
