I'm raising money for basic needs so I can live in a Sober Living Environment.

Why I'm using HandUp for my basic needs.

I am fundraising for support with housing needs as I look for my next Sober Living Environment. Currently, I am living in an SRO (Single Room Occupancy) in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. I recently completed a transitional/ sober living environment treatment plan and this is my first time living completely on my own in the past 7 years. I'd also like to return to school in the near future and have been working consistently for the last year.

While I am able to pay part of my rent, I have not secured enough savings for a deposit for the next SLE where I will live. I am hoping to fundraise enough money so that I can move out of the SRO where I am currently living to escape the high volume of drug dealing and use that goes on in the building.

About me.

I am a 4th generation San Franciscan and I was born and raised in The City. I love this city and I am hoping to continue living here. Currently, I am living in an SRO (Single Room Occupancy) in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. I recently completed a transitional/ sober living environment treatment plan and this is my first time living completely on my own in the past 7 years. My immediate short-term goal is re-entering school at San Francisco State University, completing my degree and finding a career that is both rewarding and contributes to the city of San Francisco. I'd also love to possibly raise a family here someday.

My backstory.

I have struggled with addiction for about half of my life. I am very grateful to currently be a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. My sobriety is very important to me and I work with a sponsor weekly along with attending meetings in the programs.

While I know that my recovery is up to me, I am sometimes triggered by my surroundings. I am currently living in an SRO in the TL in San Francisco. I am very grateful for housing and I am hopeful to raise enough money to move into an SLE in the Tenderloin District.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and all of your support.

My goals, moving forward.

Some of my future goals include: continuing to attend medical appointments and stabilizing my physical health, re-entering school to complete my Bachelor of Science degree, securing sober housing and focusing on and finding a career path.

Other things I'd like to share about myself.

I love exploring San Francisco, meeting new people, traveling and learning.
