I need a HandUp keeping my electricity on in my home. My apartment is heated with electric heat so my bill is hard to manage during the cold months and gets quite high. I've tried to save on my energy costs in a few different ways, but my bill is still high. I've been able to put myself on a payment plan to pay off the bills, but it is very hard to make this payment every month since I don't have any income. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I grew up in the Metro-Detroit area I have lived here for many years. I enjoy spending time with my family every free moment I have. I have two older children that have started families of their own, and I also have a teenage son that still lives with me. I've become very involved in my church and now run the church food pantry. I enjoy volunteering wherever I can because I like to give back to the community that has supported me.
I've struggled with homelessness off and on for many years, but for the past year and a half I have been able to stabilize myself in housing. In the past, my health has prevented me from working and has contributed to my homelessness. I am a single mother and found over the years, I neglected my well being because I was so focused on providing a positive environment for my kids.
I would like to begin working again in order to have an income that can provide for my family. I've enjoyed working in retail in the past as well as an in home-health aid, and I want to find a job in those fields again. I've even considered making my hobby for beauty and skincare into a career by going to cosmetology school. I'm taking life one step at a time right now.
I am the proud grandma of two beautiful granddaughters! My family brings me much happiness. My favorite channel is PBS, and I'm always learning new things from watching it.
