I am from the midwest (Chicago, South Bend, Detroit, Milwaukee). I worked for 50 years as a medical transcriptionist, and was a student on the GI Bill. I have lived in the S.F. Bay Area for 55 years. I have a B.A. (Creative Writing) from S.F. State, and an M.A. (English) from U.C., Berkeley.
When voice recognition technology was developed, medical transcription disappeared – was taken over by Internet Technology – and I could no longer find work. I hold a California Community College Instructor Credential (Literature and Language Arts).
I would like to obtain a Hewlett Packard desktop or laptop (new or used) computer to enable me to work on my verse manuscripts – research/editing/revising.
My proudest moments have been during my coffeehouse poetry readings, and also the months I spent as a writing tutor – at Laney Community College, and for Akademia.com (virtual classroom). I have verse videos on YouTube under "jack mellender".
I'm raising money for my household and education so I can stay housed and stay in school.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can purchase the items that I need to survive.
Be the first to donate to Michael this month!
I'm raising money for microwave so I can eat hot food.
