I want to take online classes to further my education and enhance my job skills. I am using HandUp to fundraise for a laptop so I can do this.
** NOTE TO DONORS: We value your donations, and respect your intention to support people in need with their specific fundraising goals. On occasion, the immediate needs or an emergency may arise, and a Participant might require support in another way for safety, health, housing, or employment. As such, your donation may be used for an immediate basic need not mentioned in the above goal, such as groceries, health costs, or housing support. Any changes will always be approved in advance by PHC Staff. We will provide up to date information on how these funds are being used through an update on HandUp. By making a donation to this campaign, you are confirming your approval of this potential change. If you have any questions, or do not wish that your donation be used for any alternative goals, please contact PHC staff directly.
We greatly appreciate your support to our Participants!
I was born on an Airforce base in Germany where my dad was stationed. I have lived all over the world because of my father and learned several languages including French, Italian and German. Most of my employment was as a laborer but due to disabilities I am unable to work. I have lived in San Francisco for 3 years. I proudly severed in the United States Military from 1968-1969.
I was homeless in San Francisco for 3 years. My disabilities have made it impossible to return to work in construction and labor work. This has resulted in me being homeless.
Due to my disabilities and my age, 65 I am unable to work in my profession. My goals are to learn new skills to obtain employment in the scope of my physical limitations. I plan to take online classes and work with a career counselor to achieve this goal. Being employed and more self-reliant is what I am working toward.
I am happiest when I am others. Being homeless has not prevented me from giving back to the community. I love volunteering and helping other veterans. My proudest moment was when I became a father. Having my son fulfilled me. I am also proud that I have clean and sober for six months and am active in my recovery. My wildest dream is to continue working toward my goals and make a success of them.
I'm raising money for partial dentures so I can be more employable and support my recovery**.
I'm raising money for an ipad so I can get more organized.
I'm raising money for basic needs so I can purchase the items that I need to survive.
