I just got into housing and I am so appreciative. I am seeking help for the essentials for my home. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I am in need of the basics such as linens, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes and cleaning supplies.
My name is Johnathan, and I am 34 years old . I grew up in a good home as a child, and attended De La Salle High School. At seventeen years old I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for seven years. After moving on from the Marine Corps, I took a job as a Bouncer at a local night club, and surfed on my off-time; I love the beach.
In 2008 I began to fall down hill after my military experience. At that time I lived in Mississippi, had no income, and no way to pay rent. I was newly married then but the relationship quickly deteriorated because of our financial situation. I continued to struggle, worked odd jobs here and there to make ends meet but really didn't have anything stable. My mom lives in California, and in 2013 spoke, as we often do, and she asked me to please move out to California so that I may improve my condition. I was able to secure a hotel but lost it and everything I own, including school materials when I went on a short visit to see my Grandparents in the state of Georgia. The claim from this private hotel was that rent was unpaid but I had in fact paid the rent.
So once again I had to seek housing and put life back together. I recently became housed and am feeling so grateful for this next chapter as I pursue my education.I am fundraising for a dresser, night stand and a lamp. I am almost situated in my new housing and just need these additional items to complete my new permanent housing.
I graduated from 5 Keys Charter School and am now attending classes at Community College to learn culinary arts. I am serious about bettering myself to have a great quality of life, and future.
I was happy serving my country, serving in the United States Marine Corps, and God. My family makes me proud and happy. I also love serving God, I am a member of the Providence Baptist Church. I am very gratified that I have been able to secure most items from Hand Up and thank everyone for there support in my new venture.
